《D4：暗梦不灭》游戏讲述了一宗引人入胜的谋杀案。主人公David是一个失去记忆的侦探，他有能够回到过去的超能力，要去调查他妻子被杀案件的幕后真相。 PC版的《D4：暗梦不灭》不支持Kinect体感操作，游戏中的全部动作和QTE现在需要通过鼠标指令来完成，而整款游戏的操作也仅需要一个鼠标就可以进行，Xbox版中的语音指令也已被移除。同时，游戏也针对PC平台推出了一些特性，比如画质调节等等。
